Airline complaints soar, on-time improves a bit

On-time departures are adult … and so are complaints

Here’s a takeaway from a Department of Transportation’s latest Air Travel Consumer Report: airline complaints skyrocketed this past July. Consumers filed 1,285 gripes with DOT. That’s adult 14 percent over Jun 2011 figures, and and a full 17.1 percent over Jul 2010 numbers.

Complaints concerning a diagnosis of infirm fliers likewise soared. There were 56 of them in Jul 2011. Contrast that with Jul 2010’s 31 complaints, and Jun 2011’s 48 complaints.
